hey guys welcome back to my channel
you're probably thinking god I just seen
her in this outfit yes you did because
I'm filming on the same day same
greenery same nice side and same outfit
but yeah I was just thinking you know
what I'm gonna make a couple of sit-down
videos because well you know what I've
got time so why not do it the other day
I did the video of traveling
internationally and on that video I got
so many positive feedback thumbs up you
know the whole gist gist of people
enjoying that video of me sharing how it
was you know to travel from the u.s.
into Egypt what all what all I went
through to get there
my husband was well worth it though you
know it it definitely was it was you
know it was an adventure I'm not gonna
deny that it was like I said it well
worth Adventure though I would never
deny doing it and I would do it again if
I needed to but I don't need to because
my husband's here with me huh 10 years
later but anyways so some people were
asking you know like can you share some
of the things that you did when you went
back there you know how was it seeing
people how did they treat you and things
like that and you know what
commendations that I have to make to
make life livable there while I was
there so I figured I would sit down and
explain that things to you and share
things with you guys and try and go
through you know kind of what I went
through you know I mean this has been a
long time ago so to remember all of the
details might be a little bit hard but I
will do my very best so I flew into
Egypt at two o'clock in the morning and
when I got there I
remember when I was gonna get off the
plane I kept remembering how when I was
reading things on the internet cuz I
mean I don't know if if you're familiar
but if you're traveling internationally
at least with me I you know was freaking
out about how it was gonna be and what
kind of weather was it gonna be was it
gonna be hot or humid and I remember a
lot of people saying when you get off
the plane it's almost like humidity just
smacks you in the face so that's what I
was prepared for so of course I'm Doug
dressed down to like short sleeves and
you know cuz I wasn't a Muslim back then
so to me I was just dressing with
whatever so I had short sleeves and
capris my hair was thrown up in a bun
and I was just ready to ready to rumble
so I go to get off the plane in it there
was no humidity it was actually fairly
chilly and again remember I said we had
to get off the plane on the runway and
get onto a bus and you know that whole
thing so we get there or I could get in
at two o'clock but then we've got the
whole long customs thing so by the time
we get out of the airport it was going
on almost four o'clock in the morning
and I remember when we were there we get
into this taxi now back in Egypt at
least where I was at majority of
transportation is either bus or taxis
you don't see a lot a lot a lot of
personal drivers just because traffic is
a lot and let me tell you Wendy I say
that they do not believe in car lanes
they do not believe in car lanes they
believe in honkers they believe in
beeping baby baby baby baby it's like
that's their like their language with
their cars their cars are talking so oh
my god oh all he pulls us or walks me up
and is like oh here's the taxi and I'm
like looking at the taxi like oh my god
this thing is so small like I'm not
gonna fit in this thing so I'm standing
there and I'm thinking oh my god I gotta
get all this luggage into this car and I
gotta fit in this car and all he's got
to fit in this car and the driver
got a fan so we get in the taxi
look like clowns in a car slid out arm
out hey I'm just joking but it was a
tight squeeze and we driving I want to
say it was about a half an hour from the
airport to where we were going and we
get to the place where we're gonna stay
now when we very first got there all he
had a stain as separate room like we
couldn't stay in the same rooms because
we were not married so I remember and
back there they have I think they're
called doorkeepers I want to say so it's
like somebody that sits at a desk and
like opens the door or something I don't
remember but something like that so I
remember ollie going up to get the keys
to go into the apartment where I was
gonna stay and there is nobody answering
absolutely nobody answering right and
I'm thinking oh my god we're standing
here I've got all my luggage I'm
exhausted I want to just crash and we
can't find the person that has got the
keys to the apartment that we're we had
rented and so I was like oh my god so
finally you know half an hour later all
he finds this guy and so he comes and
opens up the the downstairs lobby area I
guess it is and we get in tour so we get
into the elevator cuz my little
apartment studio thingy whatever it is
called was upstairs his was downstairs
so he gets me adjusted in there and gets
my bags and stuff and I was like okay
goodnight you know I'm gonna take a
shower and just go to bed like I am
exhausted so he leaves and I'm sitting
there for a second I'm just looking
around because it they're very different
than like I mean they're flats so the
walls are cement and so it was very
different to me the ground is like a
marble
um the furniture I remember was so
beautiful though it was so beautiful so
I go and I'm like okay I'm gonna take a
shower because I just I feel gross I
need to brush my teeth I need to you
know go to the bathroom and take a
shower and I'm just gonna take a nice
hot shower and just relax and yeah well
I go into the bathroom and there's no
toilet paper absolutely no toilet paper
I am looking everywhere right and I'm
thinking oh my god this is so
embarrassing
here I'm meeting all day for the very
first time I don't want to tell them I
need to use the restroom and I need
whole paper and oh my gosh so I start
stressing out automatically and I'm
thinking oh my god what am I gonna do do
I have to use like a towel like how do
they what do they use and I'm looking
everywhere there is nothing there's no
paper towels there's no napkins there
was nothing that I could find so I might
go whatever I'm just gonna use the
restroom I guess I'll take a shower so I
use the restroom
I go to get in the shower and I for the
life we could not get the water to turn
hot it was ice-cold and I'm thinking why
is the hot water not coming out I've got
it turned all the way to hot why is it
not coming out and I'm standing there
and I'm like please come on what else
can go wrong and this water is ice-cold
like we're talking like Ice Cube cold so
miss Amy over here how to take an ice
cold shower oh let me tell you when you
get in the water you're like taking your
breath so wait yeah that's what was
going on with me ah I had to take a
shower my hair was matted because as a
cold water I did not have no shampoo no
conditioner I did have a little bit of
body soap but no let me tell you so I
finished the shower now I'm my good Lord
just never mind forget it that was a
fail a fail
John fell so I go and I just go to bed
so the following morning Holly comes out
to the apartment you know cuz we're
gonna go out for the first day and go
look around and things and get some
paperwork and stuff done because we were
planning to get married on the third day
of me being there so and I got there on
the 14th no I got married the 24th of
November hold on 24th yeah I got there
November 19th and I got married on the
24th if I remember right I'd have to go
back and look at my numbers but anyways
so he comes up and he's like oh my god
how was your wonder how was your first
night and I looked at him like sir we
Nev ago we gonna talk about that he's
like why what happened I said first of
all where's your guys's told paper and
he's like what are you talking about I'm
like where is your toilet paper he's
like we don't have told paper I'm like
well then what are you you was like your
hand like what do you use
he's like Amy do you not know what this
is so he takes me into the bathroom and
he shows me the little water thing and
I'm like no I'm like what is that he's
like it's called a bidet like what
what's the day of course my words were
not what his the bidet it was a little
something more exclusive I was like what
is that and he's like you wash yourself
I'm like but I'm like what do you mean
he's like you wash your butt you wash
your potty you wash you know you wash
and I'm like oh my god so I was like
okay I figured that part out at least I
said well I tried to go and take a
shower and the water is absolutely
ice-cold he's like oh well you gotta
turn this on well he didn't tell me
there was no water heater that you gotta
flip on for 15 minutes before you prior
do you take in the shower
no wonder the water wasn't turning hot
because I didn't turn the water heater
on and I'm like all you have to tell me
these things I don't know in the States
you flipped the water on it turns hot
you want to go the bathroom you pull
awesome tole paper you wipe your butt
like hello he's like oh I'm so sorry I
didn't think about it and I'm like
God if this is if this is how my my
journey is gonna be we're gonna have a
fun time learning everything out of here
so we end up you know finishing what we
were trying to get done adjusting
putting stuff away I end up getting a
nice hot shower because he flipped the
water heater on for me and I got a clean
bathroom break because I figured out how
to use the bidet
so we go out for the first day and at
first I was really I I was kind of
scared cuz I didn't know how people were
going to take me being there and so we
ended up getting into a taxi and we went
down to like the downtown part of Cairo
which was really cool they had like the
markets that you get to walk through so
they had like multiple different little
markets with like just little handy
things like gifts and you know little
things like that but then also you can
buy like your fruits your vegetables
your you know your meats your whatever
you need it it's all in this long street
and it was I remember was really
colorful and I remember seeing cats and
dogs everywhere we went like literally
cats and dogs everywhere we went they
never came up to me or anything like
that but I did remember a lot of cats
and dogs in assam of that and he's like
all those are dog street dogs and so he
just kind of explained what that was
exciting no and so then we went excuse
the kids are out there playing with her
dad and then after that he took me to a
mosque and ooh
so this mosque that we went to it was
beautiful let me tell you it was so
pretty and to get up to the very top
though oh my god I don't even know how
many stairs it was I'd have to ask him
but the gentleman that was walking us up
the stairs to where we could go he was
probably in his 70s kay ollie at the
time was young fit yeah now ready to
rhumble type of thing work it out you
know
got it all going on and here comes Amy
oh my god
I feel like we walked stairs for an hour
if not further longer whatever and I had
to be covered right because we're in a
mosque so you have to be dressed down to
be in the mosque so I've got this you
know this long thing on I've got my head
covered so anyways I'm going up the
stairs and I am like I tell Ollie I'm
like he's like you're doing good we're
almost there and I'm like I'm going to
kill you because I was so tired my legs
hurt so bad but I wanted to get up to
the very top so we finally felt like a
million years to get up there finally we
got up there and oh my gosh the view was
so pretty like overlooked the shopping
area and it was just beautiful and then
if you look over there you could see the
whole bottom of the mosque where people
go in and pray and all of that it was
just really pretty and so that was like
a really big highlight for that that day
because I got to go into like the the
area where a lot of people are in stuff
and I don't remember that we bought
anything that day I don't think we
bought anything that day but when we
went home all he was like oh do you want
to get KFC and I was like yeah sure and
he was like well you know what KFC
stands for right and I'm like Kentucky
Fried Chicken he's like you're hearing
ejup and I'm like okay he's like it's
Kentucky Fried camel I will look to him
and I'm like yeah nevermind I'll take a
sandwich now you may feed him me none of
that stuff so he had me going that it
was Kentucky Fried camel for a long time
and so when so then he ordered the food
and I was like well I want mashed
potatoes as if he's looking at me like
mashed potatoes what are you talking
about so back there they don't do mashed
potatoes it's a french fries and the
other thing that I had never seen before
was delivery on a bike so somebody
that's on a bike delivers the food so I
thought that was really cool because I
popped my head out the little balcony
thing and I seen the guy with a little
KFC sign on the back of his thing and he
is just delivering food and I'll never
die I'll never forget that food oh my
gosh that food was amazing amazing I I
don't think I have ever tasted KFC like
that before or since
that I still to this day crave their KFC
so we had dinner and then he went to his
apartment I stayed you know in my
apartment and that was the night that I
mean it was a very long day though I
didn't really have any interactions with
people that day because we were just
kind of like on our own you know just
kind of doing our own thing but the
following day we had to go and get
paperwork and stuff together because we
were gonna be getting married the
following day from there so the next day
we had to go to like the civil courts or
something like that I don't remember
exactly what it was called but I
remember when we walked up because we
walked oh my god
we walked so much in Egypt I actually
lost on us it was like 50 pounds it was
a tremendous drop and I was there for
almost five weeks so in five weeks I
dropped like 50 pounds
I was shocked big butt we walked and
walked and walked and I did it like I
never tired out once and I missed that
now because I remember being able to
walk I would have never in my life
thought to not be able to make it or
getting too tired I kept up with ollie
the whole time and we wouldn't walk
miles a day and so this particular day
it was fairly warm and all he had to go
and get a money order and so he had to
leave me in one spot so he could run you
know it would have made it faster if he
could just go by himself because he'll
dart into traffic and all that like they
do me
like seven have we got to go to the
crosswalk he's looking he's looking at
me like a me no you're gonna follow me
take my hand we're gonna dart we're
gonna go quick and I'm finally I would
just go take me take me take I would go
with my eyes closed and he would just
have to drag me because otherwise I
would flip so we get to this spot and
I'll never forget this this man he was
older he's probably I don't know I want
to say like 50 60 and he brought up a
chair and was like here ma'am you could
sit down and but that's pretty much all
he could say cuz he didn't know English
and so he gave me his seat and then
another of woman brought me some water
and you know just made me feel very
comfortable while I was sitting outside
waiting for Olli to come back and then
from there we had to go into this
building well this building oh my god
had stairs again I swear all the
buildings seemed to have like stairs and
it wasn't like two or three stairs to
get into the building
no I had to be more like 50 60 70 stairs
to get into the building oh well this
day Amy decided to wear her slippers why
did Amy decide to wear slippers that
were like five sizes too big I don't
know but as I'm going up the stairs
because my legs are getting tired going
up the stairs my foot gets stuck hold on
the staircase and whoop there goes Amy
kissing the concrete on the other part
of the stairs so of course everybody
runs over you know to help me and all
are you trying to help me and I'm like
oh my god why of all places Amy why do
you have to fall right here so I'm
trying to brush my pride off right
because I'm just like I'm done I'm so
pissed at this point because I was
embarrassed I was like getting cranky
with Olli
all he's like it's okay you fell I'm
like it's not okay
why do we have to keep going up these
stairs if he was gonna leave each other
what the psycho side was popping out so
we get up the stairs we get our my visa
stamped and the rest of the day we just
went and walked around he showed me a
lot of like the downtown area and the
people were so nice I didn't get stairs
like routes
there's nothing like everybody was just
so just so kind you know going out of
their way to actually like help me feel
more comfortable and I remember you know
so we got married
the the following day so the third day I
was there I got married and so then we
were able to combine our apartments into
one which I moved downstairs to the
other apartment because it was bigger I
had two bedrooms and so like one room we
just kept like our you know our bags and
all that and then the bigger room we
were able to keep for ourselves and so
when I get down to that room to that
apartment I remember falling off so that
night the midnight I had to get up and
go get a drink so I get up to go and get
a drink and I flip on the kitchen light
way I didn't know in Egypt it's very
common about cockroaches oh let me tell
ya let me tell ya there was a cockroach
that was on the counter and it darted oh
my god I screamed so loud I ran back
into the bedroom I was like I'm he's
I've had an amazing kitchen there's if I
did the kitchen he's like oh my god he's
like we're so I go and I take I turn on
the light right and he was still there
he just had darted one spawn different
and he's like oh that's just a cockroach
and I'm like well you know that's normal
he's like well they come in from the
trees and stuff and I'm like oh hell no
we playing with this so then from there
Ford I had to check everything that I
was doing because God forbid that there
was a cockroach that would crawl on me
we would have an issue because the whole
flat would hear me I'm not kidding bugs
and Amy just don't mix at all
so I remember sitting on the couch and I
would see one crawling up the wall and
I'm like ah yep
go get it he was probably so tired of
you by the time I was
like the midway through my trip he's
probably thinking how many more days
until this woman leaves I kept him up on
his house with the cockroaches so then
um what else oh and then so one of the
days I don't remember where now we're
into like at least a week or so that I
had been there we when we checked out
the pyramids and that was so much fun
although he thought it would be funny to
get me up on a carriage with a horse hmm
yeah Amy doesn't do horses Amy doesn't
like horses Amy doesn't like anything
about horses I am deathly afraid of
horses
well my husband at this point now
thought that it would be cute to get me
up on a carriage well I'm short I'm fat
and this carriage is tall and very
skinny so trying to get me into a
skinny's carriage very high up was not a
pretty picture but Amy did it so once I
got up there though then I kept all I
could imagine was the stupid horse doing
something stupid and me falling out of
the carriage backwards or something like
I could just see it in my mind so I was
like the whole time I was sitting up
like here's the seat way back here I'm
sitting up like this trying to hold the
carriage from tipping over because it
was really gonna make a difference what
I was doing and so we took pictures and
stuff there and finally I was like okay
can we please just go
to where we gots to get to get out of
this carriage so we took the carriage
right down to the pyramids and that was
so beautiful like the experience it was
awesome I'll never forget just getting
out of the carriage and walking on the
ground the dirt even had a different
feel to it and the pyramids had such an
amazing fill it was really weird it
wasn't just like a regular Rock you know
it was just something about it and we
were able to go into some of the caves
and you know things like that it was
just so much fun it was so much fun and
then we went and we seen
the I never can say the name right but
Sphinx thinks whatever it is so we
wouldn't seen that and I remember
sitting there and we just you know I I
kind of started to choke up and cry a
little bit and he's like what's wrong
and I was like I just don't want to
leave I was like it's so beautiful here
and the people are so nice like the
generosity that came from the people in
Egypt just made life fill so welcoming I
never once ever ever ever ever once was
I ever made to fill like a sore thumb
sticking out even with my weight I mean
I wasn't this big but I was 325 pounds
you know so I was still a big girl and
never once did I get a rude stare or you
know people talking behind my back or
you know acting like I was nasty or
gross or an oddball because I wasn't
dressed down like the women and you know
I mean no I didn't walk around
disrespectfully and wear like tank tops
and you know have my tattoos hanging out
and things like that like I was still
very respectful because I think that
that's very important anywhere you go
any any country you go to you want to
respect their their culture to the best
of your ability and you know for me it
was respecting them as wearing you know
a t-shirt and capris I would never wear
shorts or a tank top there I wouldn't do
it but I think that that's just part of
that's who I am you know and I'm not
saying that for everybody because there
are people that go back there and they
do wear tank tops and stuff and they
still aren't treated wrong but I you
know wherever I go I try to respect that
that country and so when I win I didn't
you know I brought tank tops and things
because I warm inside the apartment but
I would have never went out of the house
in something like that and you know mold
times you know his mom and his sister
and his brother took a taxi over to our
apartment and they had cooked oh my gosh
the mills that his mother and sister
would cook and bring to the apartment
for us to all eat together was just oh
it was just amazing and being able to
just you know it definitely is an
eye-opener that you know all countries
are different you know I I think that it
was a very big learning aspect on my
part that you know what we have here in
the US versus what people had in Egypt
you know it takes a lot of work to get
what you have there I remember when I
was there they had street sweepers well
their street sweepers were people with
brooms sweeping the streets here you
have a machine that goes up and down the
roads and they sweep the mission you
know this the streets but I would have
to say that a lot of where I went in
Egypt was very clean I didn't see trash
hanging around now once you get to a
certain part of Egypt I remember that
there was some stairs that he had taken
me over and you go over these stairs and
it's like a bridge and when you go over
the bridge it's a whole nother part of
Egypt and that's I'd yeah there was a
lot more like I could I could see a
little bit more of the garbage and stuff
like that and it wasn't because the
people were filthy but that's just that
area of Egypt but it wasn't like trash
just thrown in the streets it was like
people's bags of trash that they put on
in a pile and I think they'd come by and
pick it up or something I don't remember
exactly what the story was with that and
then like the night that we went to the
Cairo tower you know that is a huge
Tower that you take a an elevator and
when you get out you get to see all of
Cairo and it was so
beautiful and the people there were so
amazing just you know ready and willing
to take pictures of me and oli together
and you know I can definitely say that
the the people in Egypt definitely made
my trip worth going and they made my
trip worth not wanting to come back here
had I not had my son here waiting for me
I would say that I probably would have
waited and stayed in Egypt with him
because I loved it so much so yeah I I
mean I had a very good you know
experience traveling internationally and
traveling to Egypt and the people that
you know made my trip like I said so
perfect and like I said even on the
flight you know the flight alone I have
the most amazing flight and a lot of
people don't get that
they don't have that option or that not
option but they don't have that
experience you know my experience was
spectacular from start to finish besides
the only time that I had that really
hard time was just getting to the
airport the first time going no but
other than that oh and then on the way
home on our way to the airport from when
I was leaving Egypt we almost got into a
car accident
haha me and car accidents yeah don't fly
but you know it was an amazing time and
you know I remember like in when we were
at the pyramids there was a little girl
she's probably like nine ten maybe and I
remember her coming up to me she was
looking at me and this day I think this
day my I did have something that was
showing a little bit of my sleeves are
my tattoos I saw it short sleeves on but
like you know they were like but my
tattoos were hanging out a little bit
and I remember this girl she she was
kind of like staring at me but not in a
bad way I think she was just staring
like as in like curious because it's
something that you know isn't really
scene in Egypt you know you're not gonna
see a lot of women walking around with
tattoos and stuff it's just not gonna
you know it's just not gonna be
something you see and she comes up to me
so sweetly and it was like may I have a
picture with you and I was like oh my
gosh yes and so I took a picture with
her and I still have that picture she
was such a sweetheart and you know Ollie
after I walked away he was like you know
why she did that and I was like no and
she goes he said because you're an
American and she she wanted to have in a
picture with an American and I'm like oh
my god
and so yeah it was it was very sweet I
have to just say I honestly my trip to
Egypt for the very first trip and
traveling alone into the unknown to
somebody I had never met before I
couldn't have had a better trip now I
can't say that that's for everybody I
can't say that everybody's gonna have
that experience everybody has their own
experiences but I will say that I did a
lot of research before I even when I did
more research than people who think I
did so when I went back there I had a
pretty good idea of what I was getting
myself into I knew what was going on um
I was not concerned that Ollie was going
to take me for sex trafficking I was
fairly aware of my surroundings the
whole time I was there from the
beginning to the end
you know I think that you make your trip
be what it's gonna be if you go into
your trip with a snotty attitude or you
know you go into your your trip with an
attitude of fear then I think that
that's just going to be the type of trip
you're gonna have but if you go into
your trip just ready to grab your trip
by the horns and say take me along for
the journey and try things out and do
things differently like I would have
never ever ever imagined going to the
pyramid
or you know walking down and seen you
know the Nile and different things like
that like I would never ever ever
imagine that but I did and I got to do
it the Red Sea I got to touch the Red
Sea you know just things that most
people don't think that they would do
they you get to do it as long as you
keep the only one thing that I will say
that I wish I would have done that I
didn't do while I was back there is I
did not go out to eat like at a
restaurant I didn't get the experience
of that and that's because of my self
conscious behavior because I didn't want
to eat in front of people even though
they didn't make me feel bad it was just
I had that self conscious no no no no no
Holly wanted to take me to a couple
different restaurants and I was just
like no no no no no I don't want to and
you know but I got to experience so many
different things that it wasn't just
about the food there was so many
experiences outside of you know just in
activities that I enjoyed so much and I
learned so much while I was there like
we went to the Cairo Museum we went to
and I love museums I love history I love
learning all of those type things so
that was right up my alley and I was so
excited to go that I would rather gone
to the museum than go and eat food
somewhere so for me I would have rather
you know go home and eat something you
know we ate a lot of a lot of like tuna
fish sandwiches and stuff because that's
just we weren't into the food part as
much in about it's probably why I lost
the weight I did between not eating a
lot of junk and you know we ate a lot of
cooked meats and you know vegetables and
things like that because that's what a
lot of most Egyptian Mills consists of
is meat and vegetables and then they do
eat for like desserts and stuff they eat
fruit so you know the only time that I
remember making all you buy me anything
was when I made him go out
two o'clock in the morning go buy me a
Snickers and I wanted the Snickers I
never eat Snickers you guys I still to
this day do not eat Snickers but I
wanted to Snickers so bad I made him go
out in the middle of the night to go get
me a Snickers and come to find out I
think because of that is because I was
pregnant I just didn't know it was
pregnant yet
so yeah I have my little Snickers baby
inside me but anyways I hope you guys
enjoyed this video and it gives you guys
a little bit of insight about my trip to
Egypt and a little bit about the you
know the hostility or however you say it
the generosity it was amazing and I
would love to hear stories of you guys
when you guys travel to international
places or anything like that I love
travel stories because I think that
that's something that's always going to
be in my future of musts on my list of
things to do when I get down to a size
that is more comfortable is to travel
because those are things that I want to
do I want to travel to France I want to
travel to you know your I just want to
travel and travel and travel that is
just my dream so eventually you know I
think that will be something we will do
when the time is right but right now
with little kids and stuff it's not
going to be as fun so we're not gonna do
it right now but it's definitely
something that's in our cards and we
want to play them and play them right so
anyways take care of you guys and I will
come back with another storytime soon
